“Back in 1997, I was washing cars at the Lake Forest Park Car Wash and listening to Nirvana if I recall correctly... one day my friend’s parents asked me if I would like to make a little money on the side and “dig a hole” for them. I thought it was odd to dig a 6’x6’x10’ square hole next to their house, but I didn’t care; I was looking forward to all that coffee money!
The next day, a man with a mustache that would make Nick Offerman jealous stopped by to inspect the hole. He said it was the squarest dirt hole he had ever seen and offered me a job! We went on to fill the hole with gravel for a French drain.
Terry Walker was a tough boss. He has a passion for building, he is demanding, he won’t let anything go until the details are right. He has a drive that an athlete would have a hard time keeping up with and he is punctual... he does not like to wait or be late to an appointment as a matter of integrity.
I learned a lot from Terry... I currently work in Aerospace and have served in many leadership rolls. To this day, I often find myself in his shoes, seeing through his eyes. Looking back I often think “Poor Terry, having to put up with me in my younger years”. I see, Terry Walker... I get it... Thank you.
Terry Walker taught me about ‘having a sense of urgency’. He taught me of the importance of integrity and doing things the way they should be done. I learned about customer service and how every job is an advertisement about who you are and what you stand for.
For those of you looking for a contractor, I say this: The bitter taste of poor quality remains long after the sweet taste of low cost. Terry Walker may not be the cheapest, but he has the passion, the knowledge, the integrity and skill to do anything you need.
If there was a Jedi council of contractors; Terry would be a Master Contractor on that council.
There are many contractors out there; Terry is one of the good ones.”
